The UpMu Uplifts: New Gen Leaders scholarship is designed to support college students who are pursuing an internship at a nonprofit that aligns with their career goals and community service interests but who may be facing financial barriers to participation. It aims to alleviate the financial burden of non-profit internships, particularly those that are unpaid or require travel, housing, or other necessary expenses. A scholarship award of $500 will be granted to a current Davidson college scholar, class of 2027 or 2028.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Must be enrolled as a current Davidson College student
- Must be enrolled as a college freshman or sophomore (Class of 2027 or 2028) at Davidson College
- Must have at least a 2.75 GPA on a 4.0 GPA scale
- Must identify as a Black/African American woman
Application Requirements:
- A completed application form
- Current official school transcript
- One letter of recommendation from faculty, school administrator, or staff of the college (faculty or administrator is preferred) (Please review instructions for letters of recommendations)
- Current resume
- Proof of acceptance and or intent to intern at a non-profit organization (Please note at the time of acceptance the scholarship will not be granted without proof of acceptance to a summer 25' internship at a nonprofit)
- Essay response (500 words max)
